Our NWCLA speaker series for March 2015 features our special guests, Fitchburg Board of Health Inspector, Jeff Stephens and Gardner Board of Health Inspector, Bernard Sullivan. We have also invited and are priveledged to have Rita McConville of the Westminster Board of Health.


Jeff Stephens, Bernard Sullivan and Rita McConville will bring us up to date on recent activities and events concerning landlords in the state of Massachusetts and outline for our landlords what types of issues that may be on the horizon for Massachusetts investment property owners.

The meeting will be in an open forum setting where topics and questions will be welcomed.

Bryan Ganz of Scutter Bay Capital and Northeast Remediation to give a 10 min talk at the beginning of the next meeting about the remediation services they offer- lead, mold and asbestos. They offer a lot more then the normal scope, including financing.

Frank Flynn Frank graduated with a B.A. with honors in 1980 from the University of Cincinnati and a Juris Doctorate from Boston College Law School in 1987. He is a longstanding member of the Community Associations Institute-New England-Attorneys committee. He is also the former Chair of the Condominium Committee of the Massachusetts Bar Association Real Property Committee.

He is the former Vice President of the Asian American Lawyers Association. He has presented Seminars to the Boston Bar Association regarding Rent Control in Massachusetts. He is the author of many published articles in many trade journals in the area of residential and commercial landlord/tenant law, collections and condominium law. He is the author of Terminating Commercial Tenancies for the Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education which serves to educate lawyers. He has spoken to numerous industry groups, including Mass Housing, the Institute for Real Estate Management, the New England Affordable Housing Management Association, NERSC, the Boston and Massachusetts Bar Associations, and the New England Community Association Institute.

The Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination (MCAD) was established in 1946 as the state's chief civil rights agency charged with the authority to investigate, prosecute, adjudicate and resolve cases of discrimination. Led by three Commissioners, one who serves as chair, the MCAD enforces the state's anti-discrimination laws in these areas:

  • Employment
  • Housing
  • Credit
  • Public accommodations
  • Access to education

The MCAD protects individuals in numerous protected categories including race, color, creed, national origin, age, disability, gender, gender identity, and sexual orientation. MCAD is an independent agency of the Commonwealth, which is funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, and other earned revenue.

This is our Annual Toy and Pantry Drive where every year we make a food donation to a local food pantry and we also fund a Toy Drive to donate to one of our local charities. Come out and join us the second Thursday of the month May 5/9/2019

The Massachusetts Commission Again Discrimination (MCAD) will be presenting on the differences between service, companion and emotional support animals. Learn the legal rights of tenants and the crucial information to help us ensure they are not being discriminated against; intentionally or not.

Early bird tickets are $15 and available until 12pm, 7 days prior to the event. Tickets are $20 at the door. Become a member and the annual dues pay for all 10 meetings a year!
